The Valdese Public Art Commission selected their first piece of public art entitled THREE GRACES.  In Greek mythology, Beauty, Mirth, and Good Cheer, were very admirable Graces later depicted during the Renaissance by numerous artists and sculptors.  The artist, Carl Billingsley's version of the "three graces", celebrates these qualities in terms of geometric figures.  These sculptures exhibit the same geometry of form but have different size, materials, and texture that responds to each change of light and atmosphere.  One moment THREE GRACES will sparkle in bright sunshine, another the three pieces will show their colors differently against a gray sky.  Carl Billingsley hopes his sculpture will always bring mirth and good cheer to its viewers.
