Meals on Wheels on Aug. 31, 2022, 8 a.m.
Burke County Senior Services is proud to offer both the Congregate Nutrition and Meals on Wheels programs in our community. Eligible participants receive both a hot delicious meal and daily contact with one of our volunteers or other seniors members.
HOME DELIVERED MEALS
The Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels) Program provides a meal to a home-bound older adult 60 years of age or older. Our meals provide one-third of the recommended daily dietary allowance and are delivered by one of our trained volunteers.
Receiving Meals on Wheels allows the older adult to reside in their own home and maintain a sense of independency while receiving a well-balanced meal.
CLASSY SENIORS CONGREGATE NUTRITION PROGRAM
The Classy Seniors Congregate Nutrition Program’s mission is to promote, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of older adults through the provision of nutritionally balanced meals with fellowship and fun activities in order to enhance the older adult’s ability to remain independent.
Services are provided 5 days a week to adults 60 years of age and older who desire the opportunity to gain daily social interaction through community involvement. This group meets 8 a.m. to noon, Mondays through Friday at the Teacher’s Cottage in Valdese.
