Get ready for an unforgettable Summer in Valdese! The 2022 Summer Concert Series has been announced, along with some exciting updates regarding the construction of the new stage on Temple Field. This year’s lineup will feature a variety of different genres among talented groups- from beach to rock, from country to beach. In addition to hosting fan favorites of seasons past, 2022’s lineup also welcomes a few newcomers to the Valdese FFN stage, including Southside Saints and the Randy Clay Band. The Annual Independence Day Celebration and the 47th Annual Waldensian Festival will be held in conjunction with the series, with those performances taking place at Main Stage Downtown, at the intersection of Rodoret St and Main. Festival Headliners include Cat5 Band and The Catalinas.

Initially moved from the town parking area along Main Street to allow more space for social distancing, the location change to Temple Field in 2021 completely reinvented the summer event, drawing a record number of attendees each Friday night. The larger space on the football field provided a much safer, cooler area with ample room to spread out, picnic, enjoy games, etc. “The success of the 2021 season was truly more than we could have hoped for” states Morrissa Angi, Director of Community Affairs for Valdese. “We saw the event completely re-energized and it truly became FAMILY Friday Nights for not only our community but for visitors from all around. We are looking forward to making 2022 even better, especially with the addition of our permanent stage!”

Valdese Town Council approved the permanent location change for the event and stage construction in late 2021. Construction for the stage and dance floor is set to begin in early March and to be completed by the Season Kick Off on May 27th. The Town of Valdese would like to extend the deepest appreciation to our stage sponsors, Rostan Family Foundation, Historic Valdese Foundation, UNC-Health Blue Ridge, College Pines Health & Rehabilitation, Grace Heights Health & Rehabilitation, and Wright Way Dance. The twenty by thirty-foot stage will occupy the southwest corner of Temple Field behind the Old Rock School and will provide a deserving backdrop for the summer’s entertainment. Not only will the stage be much larger than the event has seen in the past it will also feature a rock façade, concrete dance floor and metal roof structure. The concerts are free and a great, safe place for families to enjoy.

Family Friday Night attendees are also encouraged to take advantage of the Downtown charm Valdese offers its residents and visitors. Downtown Restaurants provide a wide variety of cuisines (Pizza, Burgers, Mexican, Sushi, Sandwiches, Ice Cream) and Main Street features several unique and spirited boutiques, offering something to pique the interest of every family member. Many downtown businesses offer special events on Friday nights ranging from cruise ins to bingo.
