Bring your business to Downtown Valdese!
The Town of Valdese, recently designated by the State of North Carolina as a Main Street Community, is conveniently located along Interstate 40 in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Our Downtown District provides a supportive environment for new & existing businesses. It offers a variety of interesting shops and restaurants. Our Family Friday Nights in the summer create a family oriented atmosphere that brings many residents into town for music, food and a stroll down Main Street.
Many resources are available for citizens interested in opening a business in the Downtown District. The Valdese Merchants Association is a group of various business owners working together to promote the downtown shopping area of Valdese and provides assistance to the local community through event planning, scholarships and food drives throughout the year.
There are valuable resources including classes, trainings and one-on-one counseling opportunities available through the Small Business Office, located atWestern Piedmont Community College. VEDIC: Valdese Economic Development Investment Corporation, is another great resource that operates a revolving loan program aimed at helping entrepreneurs start businesses and existing businesses expand.
Burke Development Incorporated: Our mission is to promote economic growth, innovation and sustainability in Burke County in order to improve the standard of living and well-being of its citizens.
The Waldensian Mill Project: Transformation, new growth, prosperity and opportunity—this is what the establishment of the Waldensian Hosiery Mill in 1901 generated for the early settlers of Valdese. The area became a prominent industrial center and grew to include factories, banks, general stores, and restaurants. Now the 55,000 square foot complex is ready to continue and enhance that legacy. The Waldensian Mill has been transformed to welcome new development and foster economic progress.
Visit the Waldensian Mill website to learn more about available spaces for lease and how to bring your business to this amazing space. We strongly support our unique, local businesses and look forward to having you join us!
